The Mars Volta’s singer Omar Rodriguez-Lopez makes his directorial debut. As you might expect, fluffy bunnies are in short supply. What we get instead is the breakneck tale of a shattered young man (Lopez himself) who lusts after his sister and seeks meaning in a seedy underworld of drag queens and heroin addicts. Violence, rage, psychosis and other unpleasantness is in plentiful supply. While Lopez also handles the writing, producing and music duties, the exquisite imagery is courtesy of DP Michael Rizzi. Set to premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
