The latest DVD Debut on VH1.com has something of a complex.
Steve Lopez is an L.A. Times columnist at the bottom of his inkpot. Then he meets musician Nathaniel Ayers, who is only playing with two strings on his violin, but treats the streets as a concert hall. His story inspires Lopez and his readers, who all want to give the homeless prodigy the life he deserves. The more Lopez learns about Ayers–who studied with Yo Yo Ma but dresses like a dumpster-diving Homey the Clown–the harder this seems to be. This true story lets Jamie Foxx hit some rare dramatic notes and Robert Downey Jr. flexes muscles Iron Man doesn’t exercise.
